Peer Pressure

For Project 2 my group chose to do a project on drinking, peer pressure, the choices you can make, and the outcomes of your action.  Students are enticed with peer pressure throughout their daily lives.   As teachers you can only give them the information to only hope that when the day comes, they chose to go down the right path.  I found this cartoon on a Teacher Talk: Alcohol and Adolescents website.  It is an informational publication that is released with educational information to help students on how to address alcohol and other related issues.  This is an important aspect of their life that can easily be overlooked since most of us are not obligated to educate in that specific content area.  Any projects that collaborate to other subjects is a valuable lesson to be taught.
Pat didn't learn to say no, but Chris learned
not to give in to peer pressure and popular media.

KidPub

KidPub is a great site.  I like the student publication sites.  It will give student's more confidence and motivation to share their work among their peers.  They can read other work, get ideas, and even post their own stories or work. I hope to use this in my class and hope the student enjoy it!

Youthful Thinking

Since our district is all about go green the students open their daily objectives as a word document in a folder that is created for that class only. I always put insightful quotes on the page or comics, it sparks some interesting conversation. It is entertaining!

Smarter - Yes or No?

I thought the discussion about the internet whether it is making us smarter or not was an interesting topic with numerous points that were enlightening. I could write a novel on all of my opinions, ideas, and experiences in only two years of teaching. Overall, the internet is not making us more stupid it is making many things more socially acceptable than in the past. People are becoming more lax about different issues.
